Terms
Terms of service
Last updated 2026-09-15
Costometer (costometer.app) is operated by Simple Technologies. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms.
Estimates, not advice
Every number Costometer shows is an estimate based on what you enter, what your connected vehicles report and public data such as EPA ratings. Some figures, like FSD miles before Tesla started tracking them, are estimated by design and labelled that way. Costometer is not financial, tax, legal or purchasing advice. Check anything important before you rely on it.
Not affiliated with Tesla
Costometer is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. Tesla, FSD (Supervised) and related names are Tesla's trademarks and are used only to describe what the calculators work with. The same goes for other vehicle makers, Smartcar, Laberty, SimpleFIN and the AI providers named on the site. FSD (Supervised) requires an attentive driver; nothing in Costometer changes that.
Your account
- You sign in with an emailed link or a passkey. Keep your email account and devices secure; anyone who controls them can reach your garage.
- Give accurate information and use Costometer only for vehicles and accounts you're allowed to manage.
- Don't misuse the service: no attempts to break its security, overload it, scrape it, or use "Email it to me" to send mail to people who didn't ask for it.
Your data
What you put in your garage stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run Costometer for you, as described in the privacy notice. You can export it or delete your account at any time.
Plans and billing
- The calculators and the garage are free. Paid plans add features such as email digests, your own AI key, Laberty printing and vehicle connections. Current plans and prices are on the pricing page.
- Subscriptions are billed monthly in US dollars through Stripe, and renew until you cancel. Stripe's terms also apply to payment.
- You can change or cancel your plan any time from Manage billing. A cancelled plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and then your account returns to Free; your garage data is kept.
- If a payment fails, paid features may stop until the payment method is updated.
- We may change prices. We'll give notice before a change applies to an existing subscription.
Connections and other services
Tesla, Smartcar, Laberty, SimpleFIN and AI providers are independent services with their own terms, availability and costs. They can change or stop working in ways we don't control. When you connect one, you authorize Costometer to use it on your behalf for the features you turned on, and you can disconnect at any time.
The Costometer software
Costometer's source code is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1. You may read, copy and modify it for non-production use. Running it in production, including self-hosting it, requires a commercial license from Simple Technologies. Each version converts to the Apache License 2.0 on its change date (2030-09-13 for the current release). Simple Technologies' names and logos are not licensed with the code.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Costometer running and your data safe, but the service is provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable. We may add, change or remove features. If we ever shut the hosted service down, we'll give signed-up users notice and time to export their data.
Limits of liability
To the extent the law allows, Simple Technologies isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions made using Costometer's estimates, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending your use
You can stop using Costometer and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other people at risk.
Changes to these terms
We'll post changes here with a new date, and email signed-up users about significant ones before they take effect.
